Hi, my name is Maria, the face behind Little Learners Nook! I’m a qualified teacher and mum of 2! I have lived in Australia for 16 years. I was born in Germany and grew up in Malaysia before commencing my university studies in Australia. I hold a Bachelor of Children Services and a Bachelor of Education in Eary Childhood. For over 10 years, I have worked as a primary school teacher, mostly in the Prep/Kindergarten/Preschool year. In this time, I have developed a huge passion for the Early Years. I believe I have strong skills in teaching foundational literacy and numeracy skills as well as creating safe and positive learning environments for my students. Growing up in such a diversely cultural country, I have gained a great understanding for children and families from diverse backgrounds.
But how has this lead me here?
My two young daughters have been my inspiration for creating my own school readiness program. Wanting my own children to feel as ready as they can be for big school and witnessing many different levels of children starting school, I wanted to create a program that offers the fundamental skills but also focuses on the social and emotional readiness that comes with starting school. My program provides opportunity for play, intentional lessons, and purposeful skills.
I believe I am the perfect fit to support you and your child in feeling safe, confident and ready for BIG school.
